Charlotte Cerruti Obituary

Rancho Mission Viejo, CA - Charlotte Cerruti passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025. Charlotte was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was raised in Peoria, Illinois, the third of seven children to William and Matilda Motsett. After a couple years of college in Illinois and Florida, she traded in studying for the friendly skies of United Airlines. She was a flight attendant based in Los Angeles during a glamorous time for travel, and she enjoyed many adventures around the world. United required flight attendants to be single when she met the love of her life, Richard Cerruti. She didn't think twice about quitting, and she and Richard happily embarked on a nearly fifty-year marriage in 1968. She poured all her love and energy into her growing family, having 4 children: Terese Pena, Stephanie Fraticelli, Robb Cerruti, and Katie Cerruti. She was the quintessential super mom: delicious chef and baker, carpool chauffeur, school and team volunteer, costume maker, sports cheerleader, and enthusiastic supporter of all her kids' endeavors. In the mid 1980s, she reclaimed her flight attendant job at United Airlines when light was shed on the airline's old practices. Her years as a working mom were some of her happiest, and the family enjoyed many exciting adventures thanks to her travel benefits. She loved walking at the Dana Point Harbor, playing bridge with her friends, and traveling with and caring for her beloved Richard who passed away in 2018. She was always thankful to enjoy close relationships with her siblings, Michele, Terese, Joan, Corky, John, and Jim (deceased), throughout her life. She loved her children-in-law, Tony Pena, Damian Fraticelli, and Jodie Cerruti, as much as her own children. For the last 28 years, her greatest joy was being "Grammy" to her eight grandkids: Ryan (and his wife Alyson), Emily, Lia, Trevor, Jacqueline, Lucca, Julian, and Lauren. She truly loved nothing more than hosting family pool days and Christmas celebrations filled with food and fun with all of her kids and grandkids. She was the lovable, opinionated, stylish, and proud matriarch of her family and she will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Orange County Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/oc. Services and celebration of life will be held on July 25th, please contact a family member for details.
